How to install IBM SPSS 24

Before you get started

 

To install IBM SPSS on Windows, you must run the executable files (*.exe) by right-clicking on them and selecting 'Run as Administrator'. Please also note that if your computer has a high security policy in place through anti-virus and User Account Control (UAC) settings in Windows, this may affect the installation process.

 

 

Installing SPSS on Windows

 

Step 1: Go to IBM SPSS on Academic Software and click the Request button to request your licence code.

Keep this code safe, you will need it later on to activate the software.

 

 

Step 2: Click the 'Download SPSS 24' button to download the software.

 

 

Step 3: Extract all to the folder of your choice.

 

Step 4: Right-click on the file 'SPSS_Statistics_24_win_64.exe' and select 'Run as Administrator'.

 

 

Step 5: The installation wizard will launch. 

 

 

Step 6: Click on Next. The installation will start.

 

 

Step 7: Accept the licence terms and click on Next.

 

 

Step 8: Don't change the default settings for the Python installation and click on Next.

 

 

Step 9: Accept the Python licence terms and click on Next.

 

 

Step 10: Accept the IBM SPSS Statistics - Essentials for Python licence terms and click on Next.

 

 

Step 11: Don't change the default installation directory and click on Next.

 

 

Step 12: Click on Install to start the installation of the software.

 

 

 

Step 13: If you want to launch IBM SPSS Statistics 24 now check the corresponding box. If not, leave it unchecked and click on Finish.

 

 

 

Activating the licence

 

Step 1: After completing the installation, run IBM SPSS Statistics and click on 'License Product'.

 

 

Step 2: This should launch the SPSS License Authorization Wizard. If it does not open automatically, look for it in your Windows programs, right-click on it and select 'Run as administrator'.

Click on Next.

 

 

Step 3: Choose the first option ('Authorized user license') and click on Next.

 

 

Step 4: Enter the licence code you've received on the Academic Software platform and click on Next.

 

 

 

Step 5: Verify that the licence has been activated and click on Finish.

 

 

Step 6: IBM SPSS is now ready to use.
