How to install TopSolid Metal

Attention: to install and use TopSolid, you have to be connected to the HOGENT network via VPN.

If you do not already have FortiClient, you can download it from Academic Software. Go here to the HOGENT VPN configuration, download FortiClient and follow the instructions to connect to the HOGENT VPN.

Connect to the HOGENT network when prompted in the instructions below.

 

Download and install

 

Step 1: Go to TopSolid Metal on Academic Software and click on the button on the right to download the software.

 

Step 2: Then click on the installation file in your download folder (TopsolidDownloader.exe).

 

Step 3: Click on Download. The installation file will download the necessary data, which will take some time. The installation starts automatically after this download.

 

 

 

Step 4: Choose the components you want to install (TopSolid'Design and TopSolid'Cam), do not change the settings for the folders at the bottom.

 

 

Step 5: Follow the instructions. Accept the agreements by clicking on Accept. In the next window, click on Install.

 

 

 

Step 6: Wait patiently while TopSolid Metal installs. If necessary, choose to install .NET Framework 3.5.

 

 

After the installation, click on Close to exit the installation wizard.

 

 

Step 7: After the installation is complete, you will be asked if you want to clean up the download folder of the application, click on Yes.

 

 

TopSolid Metal is now installed.

 

Activate your licence

 

Step 1: Now activate your VPN connection to the HOGENT network via FortiClient. For this you need to log in with your school email and password. If you do not have FortiClient, you can download it here on Academic Software.

 

Step 2: Launch TopSolid. The software asks you to add a licence, click on Yes. Restart the application if you are asked to.

 

 

Step 3: In the Licenses window, click on the Floating licenses tab.

 

 

Under 'Name or IP address of License Server' enter the IP address 172.17.0.5 and click on Apply. At the bottom you get a list of available licenses.

 

 

Select the licence 'Ext/TopSolid'Cam BoostMilling' and click on 'Add license'. Do this for ALL licences. Then click on the green check mark at the bottom.

 

 

 

Step 4: You can fill in the 'Server Connection' window as you like.

 

 

Step 5: In the Connection window, select Local PDM Server from the drop-down menu. Click on the green check mark.

 

 

Step 6: Click on the check mark to install the libraries. After the libraries have been imported, TopSolid is ready for use.

 

 

 

Step 7: TopSolid Metal is installed and ready to use.
